The Barista Apprentice course is presented in a variety of ways depending on the Student. The modules can be broken down into segments, plenty of hands on practicing space. We present in a very relaxed atmosphere using hybrid method of digital teaching aides as well as lecture approach. Each student will receive a manual in which all hand outs are given and space for them to take notes. There is a multiple choice exam. However this can be altered to accommodate the individual student requirements.
9am-12pm Session 1.
In this introduction the student will gain a basic understanding of the role of a barista. Moving into an overview of coffee culture and its importance. Introduction to coffee types, origins, and processing methods. Basics of coffee equipment and safety around correct use of equipment.
30mins Break
Session 2 12.30pm-2.00pm
Espresso Fundamentals, understanding espresso , crema, and flavour profiles; operating an espresso machine; dosing; tamping; and extraction. Troubleshooting common espresso machine issues. Hands-on practice with espresso shots.
2.00-2.30pm Question time and clean up.
Session 3 9am - 12.00pm
Milk steaming and latte art techniques. Introducing the student to latte art, pouring basic designs, with practice sessions.
30min break
Session 4 12.30pm-2pm
Specialty coffee, beverages, recipes and techniques for popular espresso-based drinks (cappuccino, macchiato, etc.) Introduction to alternative brewing methods (pour-over, French press, etc.). Customizing beverages to accommodate different tastes and dietary restrictions.
2-2.30pm Question time and clean up.
Session 5 9am - 12pm
Customer service and communication. Understanding customer needs and preferences. Effective communication strategies for interacting with customers. Handling challenging situations with empathy and professionalism

Session 6 12.30-2pm
Workplace Integration and Job readiness. Mock service simulations to practice real-world scenarios. Resume building and interview preparation tailored to the hospitality industry. Tips for adapting to different workplace environments and cultures.
2pm-2.30pm Clean up time
Session 7 9am - 12pm
Final Assessment and certification. Practical and theoretical assessments to evaluate skill proficiency. Certification ceremony to recognize participants' achievements.
12.30pm Group Lunch
Course Duration: The course is designed to be flexible, with a recommended time to complete 4 days. However, adjustments can be made based on the individual needs and learning pace of participants. Note: This course is designed to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for individuals with special needs, but all are welcome to partake in this course.
Course Cost: $699 Meal included on final day. (approx 17hours)
